H.E Governor Sang suspends Finance CO Henry Koech, PFO, Emmanuel Wanjala and Head of Supply Chain Management

H.E  the Governor Hon.Stephen Sang has suspended the Chief Officer in charge of finance and economic planning Mr. Henry Koech Maritim. Mr. Koech has also been suspended as the County Budget Officer with effect from Friday 25th August 2017.

H.E Sang appointed the Chief Officer in charge of Devolution and Special Programmes Julius Koech to take over the Finance docket in acting capacity while Ms. Prisca Chepchirchir will take over as the new County Budget Officer also in acting capacity.

In the changes made, H.E the Governor  also suspended the Principal Finance Officer Mr. Emanuel Wanjala and appointed Ms. Joyce Jepkoech Rotich to replace him in acting capacity.

The Head of Supply Chain Management Mr. Meshack Tankoi has also been suspended and his place taken by Mr. Wilson Kipchirchir Yebei in acting capacity.

The County boss said the changes are aimed at facilitating a special audit into the Financial status of the county government.

“Consequently the County Government of Nandi has requested the Office of the Auditor General to carry out an urgent Special Audit whose findings shall be made public,”added H.E the Governor.

GOVERNOR SANG SUSPENDS TOP HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS

Nandi Governor Stephen has suspended senior county officers in the department of health and sanitation.

H.E the Governor Sang suspended the County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Health, Mathew Rotich together with his Chief Officer(CO), Dr. Edward Serem.

The acting County Director of Health Dr. Daniel Kemboi was also suspended, the county boss noted that this is to pave way for investigations into the alleged loss of revenue collected by the Health department.

H.E the Governor Sang instructed the county internal audit to carry out a detailed report on revenue collected in the last four years.

In the radical changes made in the health sector which has been ailing, the county boss also dissolved the County Health Management Board and Health Management Committees.

All the sub county hospital committees which were constituted through Gazette Notice No. 4545 have also been dissolved.

During his inauguration, H.E Sang had stated that he will prioritize provision of medical services in all the county health facilities.

“I pledge to turn around the health sector so that every resident of Nandi County will have no reason to seek medical attention outside the county,”said Sang.

HISTORY WRITTEN IN NANDI COUNTY WITH THE SWEARING IN OF THE YOUNGEST GOVERNOR IN THE HISTORY OF DEVOLVED UNITS IN KENYA

History was written yesterday in Nandi County with the Swearing-in of the youngest Governor in the history of devolved units in Kenya. Speakers remarked that H.E the Governor of Nandi County Hon Stephen K. Sang was even the youngest Governor the world over.

Thousands thronged the Kapsabet Showground to witness the inauguration of the 34-year young Governor H.E Stephen Sang who is the immediate Senator for Nandi County.

Speaking during the event, H.E the Governor promised sweeping changes in his administration with accountability being the hallmark of his strategic plan.

He promised prudent utilization of public resources under his administration and warned corruption cartels that they will not be tolerated in the county.

“I will not tolerate any corrupt practices at whatever level, I am sounding a clear warning to corruption cartels in the county that they have no place in Nandi,” he warned.

H.E the Governor Stephen K. Sang said that his administration will undertake a staff count exercise to weed out ghost workers in the county payroll and swore to protect and defend law abiding county employees.

He added that the county shall invite the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to carry out lifestyle audit for some staff members in specific departments as may be identified.

“Anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.

Governor Sang promised to prioritize provision of medical care in all health facilities in the county and directed that county employees including himself seek medical services from county health facilities.

“I pledge to turn around the health sector so that every resident of Nandi County will have no reason to seek medical attention outside the county,” he said.

“I therefore direct that moving forward all county employees starting from myself will be seeking medical services from our own county health facilities,” he added.

Outgoing Governor H.E Dr. Cleophas Lagat who handed over the instruments of power pledged his support for his successor.

“I conceded defeat for the sake of peace in this county,” he said.

Sang was sworn-in alongside his deputy Dr Yulita Cheruiyot in a ceremony that was witnessed by a host of leaders who reminded the Governor of the huge task ahead.

“We have been elected by the people and this seats we have been given because people need change,” Bomet Governor-elect Joyce Laboso said.
