NANDI MCAs APPROVE GOVERNOR SANG’S NOMINEES

The Nandi County Assembly has approved names of the nominees for the positions of the County Secretary, County Executives for Education & Vocational Training, Transport & Infrastructure, and Lands, Environment, Natural Resources & Sanitation.

The Appointments Committee, chaired by the Speaker, Hon. Joshua Kiptoo, had vetted the top county officers then retreated for report writing.

The report on vetting was on Wednesday afternoon tabled in the House for deliberation and after a lengthy debate on the report, the house unanimously adopted the report which recommended the appointment of the officers.

Top in the list is the County Secretary Dr. Francis Kipkemboi Sang who has been in acting capacity for the past two years and previously was a member of the County Public Service Board, CECM for Education Grace Jepchirchir Sugut who was the Chief Officer for Public Service. She was previously a member of the County Public Service. CECM for Transport and Infrastructure Engineer Drice Kibet Rono, CECM for Lands, Environment and Natural Resources, Water and Sanitation Dr. Philemon Kiptoo Bureti who until his appointment was the Director for Health Administration, Operations and Planning.

The MCAs after endorsing the report, said the vetting was thorough and that all the nominees satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

This now paves way for the swearing in ceremony for the nominees that is slated to take place anytime from next week.

National Land Commission will conduct a 4 day Historical Land Injustice session at A. I. C Bible College starting today, 10th July at 10.00 Am. The team comprising of 4 commissioners led by Dr. Tororei will be hearing specific summons for each of the 20 claimant groups.

H. E. Stephen Sang in Tinderet Sub-County

H. E. Governor Stephen Sang tours Tinderet Sub-County to inspect on-going county government projects and interact with the locals. He inspected the on-going road construction that will link Nandi and Kericho counties, delivered a coffee pulping machine and launched a cooling plant in Mbogo Valley, launch Kapkoil water project in Kimatgei among other activities.

BENCH MARKING ON BEST PRACTICES FOR LAND REGISTRY

In order to improve lands’ registry and document filing as well as curbing cases of lost files and title deeds, the County Government of Nandi will put up a Ardhi House that will house all the departments in Lands,Environment and Natural Resources.
The County has already identified the land on which the European Union-funded project which is being implemented by Food Agricultural Organization will be built.This will enable proper record keeping.

CEC Member Lands, Environment,Water and Natural Resources Jacob Tanui and the County Assembly Lands Committee Members visited Ardhi House Kitale to asses the best practices for implementation. #TransformingNandi.

CENSUS PROGRAM FOR PWD’s

In a move aimed at capturing the skills endowed with the People living With Disabilities (PWDs),the County Government of Nandi will soon roll out a census program for PWDs.This will enable proper planning for necessary support as well as widening their awareness scope on different opportunities.

NANDI COUNTY PITCH COMPETITION

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, led by CEC Elly Kurgat is delighted to ANNOUNCE to the Nandi County Youth of this exciting collaboration with Nancy Mwirotsi and StartUpAfrica.

THE OPPORTUNITY:1st Annual StartUpAfrica Nandi County Pitch Competition for Nandi County-based startup entrepreneurs to identify innovative solutions for the agriculture sector in Nandi. Entrants gain practical insights about starting and growing a business, while using the comprehensive small business resources available at the County and National level.
The expected outcome of the Pitch is to select winning solutions that can lead to new products, programs, projects and processes by youth Agripreneurs that can be implemented in the County.

PITCH AREAS OF FOCUS:
This call for proposals is open to individuals or teams who wish to submit innovative ideas in any of the following 2 areas of Agribusiness:
i) Innovations in ICT for Agriculture and Agri-business
ii) Agricultural production, storage, processing and distribution solutions

ELIGIBILITY:
The StartUpAfrica Pitch Competition is open to all Kenyan, Nandi youth between the ages of 18 – 35.

A short-list of 25 agripreneurs will be selected from the online submissions and will be invited to a pre-Forum boot camp for coaching and pitching on January 19, 2018 in Nandi County.
Staff from partner organizations are excluded from submitting business concept proposals.

The Governor presiding over the launch of Medical Equipment and the Delivery of Drugs

H.E Governor Stephen K. Sang presided over the launch of Medical Equipment and the delivery of drugs and medical supplies to Kabirirsang dispensary in Kilibwoni ward, Emgwen Constituency. During the launch the Governor who was accompanied by Health CEC Mrs. Ruth Koech said the County Government of Nandi will continue to engage various partners and stakeholders in order to strengthen healthcare. The medical equipment was donated by Finland-based Kenyan Stanley Samoei. #TransformingNandi
