ANGLICAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES PARTNERS WITH LANDS DEPARTMENT TO CONSERVE THE ENVIRONMENT.

The County Government of Nandi in collaboration with the Anglican Development Services Western( ADS) today carried out a a sensitization programme at Kipgongorwa Lelmokwo/ Ngechek Ward Chesumei Sub county.

The meeting brought together the residents of the area, County environmental officers and ADS officers where issues which in the past years have influenced the climate change were highlighted.

Among the issues were clearing of indigenous trees in the water catchment areas, cultivation activities on the wetlands, planting of eucalyptus species in the riparian areas were among the factors causing the climate to change.

“There is a need to plant more indigenous trees in the water catchment areas as this will improve and conserve our water sources” emphasized ADS representative Ms Cheptoo.

Later ADS distributed trees seedlings to following churches; Kipgongorwa AIC , ACK, Mogoiwet and Cheloyo SDA, Lelmokwo and Catholic churches. Kipgongorwa and Lelmokwo chiefs offices also got the seedlings. St Luke’s Mogoiwet as well as Kipgongorwa Primary and Secondary received the seedlings.
