COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSISTANTS RECEIVE MOTORCYCLES TO BOOST HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN NANDI
Governor Stephen Sang while flagging off the motorbikes and a vehicle that will aid in inspection and supervision on Friday, said the motorcycles will enable the community health assistants to reach Nandi residents with ease.
“We are improving access to primary health care across the county through a programme we have partnered with our development partners. This include community mobilization for immunization, contact tracing and disease surveillance, health education at community levels among others,” said the Governor.
Other medical equipment and facilities flagged off included suction machines, delivery beds and sets, phototherapy, radian warmers, examination couches among equipment that will bolster services in our maternity units.
The County Department of Health and Sanitation aims to ensure all villages in the county have the capacity to mobilise individuals and households for better health outcomes. The CHAs are volunteers selected from their communities as the first link with the health system. The roles of CHAs include community mobilisation, health promotion at household and community levels, and linking the population with health facilities including referral of patients.
Present at the event were the Deputy Governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot, the CEC Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koech, Ag Chief Officer for Medical Services Fredrick Kiptum among other Officials.
