County government of Nandi, in its commitment to ensure education accessibility, held a planning meeting today through the Department of Education and Vocational Training, with focus on the bursary identification process set to take place in all 30 wards from January 17th to January 25th, 2024. This inclusive process will involve public participation at the ward level, ensuring fairness and transparency.

Key stakeholders following through the planning process.

A total of 120 million has been allocated for the fiscal year 2023/2024, with each of the 30 wards receiving an equal share of 4 million. This amount will be distributed in a ratio of 50% for secondary schools, 25% for vocational training centers, 15% for universities/colleges, and 10% for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Chaired by Scolastica Tuwei, the County Executive Member for Education and Vocational Training, key stakeholders in attendance were Chief Officer Mr. Kipchumba Cheruiyot and members of the Nandi County Education Fund committee (NACEF), Sub-county administrators, ward administrators, ward education officers, ICT officers, vocational training officers, and education headquarters staff. They were briefed on the NACEF Act 2023 guidelines, which will guide the identification process. Afterward, they will compile the list of beneficiaries based on the set criteria for verification and approval by the committee.
