KAKAMEGA COUNTY TAKES A LEAF FROM NANDI COUNTY’S TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION INTO GOVERNANCE.

Today, Nandi hosted a team from the County Government of Kakamega who were on a benchmark mission to the county’s ICT Section.
Nandi’s journey towards a citizen-oriented electronic service delivery has, in the recent past, attracted some counties such as West Pokot, Bomet, Makueni, Kitui, Elgeiyo Marakwet, and now Kakamega.

Among these systems that place Nandi county on top and more so in the recent appointment to join Global Open Governance Partnership (OGP) include County Call Centre, Nandi AfyaCare for health management, DigiFarm & DigiCow, Online Jobs portal, Human Resource Management System, Bursary system, Fleet management System, Asset and inventory system among others.


The team that comprised of Officials from the ICT, Service delivery, Economic Planning, and Communication were pleased with the County’s adoption and integration of technology in departmental operations, public Participation through the Call Centre, and general service delivery to its citizens.

Speaking during a tour to the Nandi county’s development projects, Kakamega County’s Chief Officer for Service Delivery Unit, Dr.Phitalis Masakhwe highlighted Nandi county’s commitment to openness in governance and great focus towards automating operations for effective service delivery.

Speaking during a demonstration of the various county automated service delivery platforms, the Chief Officer for ICT and e-Government, Jonathan Misoi highlighted that automating service delivery has greatly improved performance by the county.

The team managed to interact with the County Monitoring and Evaluation System(CMES). This system tracks county development projects and programs from inception to completion and even into evaluating the impact of the project on the citizens.

According to the Chief Officer for Economic planning, Felix Sambu pointed out that will the CIMES in place, citizens can access all information about the projects undertaken by the county thus enhancing transparency as well as giving room for citizen involvement.

He added that the system is currently at its final stages of rollout and will soon be operationalized for the citizens to access it through the county website.
