Dr Kiplimo Araap Lagat

Dr. Bernard Kiplimo Lagat is a Development Economist with over ten years’ experience in consultancy, research and training in both public and private sectors. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management from Moi University, Kenya; an MSC in Agricultural Economics and a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Moi University. Dr Lagat is currently the Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Cooperative Development

He is formerly a Senior Lecturer at Moi University where he serves as a Postgraduate coordinator and Chairman Departmental Graduate Studies Committee. He is an African Development Bank STAARS fellow and a visiting Fellow at Cornenll University and a Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Siena in Italy where he was involved in the Work package 7 of the European Union, FP7 project (BIOWASTE4SP)- Turning biowaste into sustainable products: development of appropriate conversion technologies in developing countries. He is a Senior Consultant and Partner at Leocrest Consulting and a full-time senior lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Resource Management, School of Business and Economics at Moi University, Kenya. His research interests include: Impact Evaluation of public policies, Sustainable Development, Value Chain Development Agricultural Finance, Risk Management and agricultural Insurance, Agricultural Land Policy.

He has strong empirical skills in Impact evaluation, Value chain analysis and Microeconometric modelling and analysis. He is proficient in several softwares including STATA, SPSS, Eviews and R. He has over 10 years of experience in research in Impact Evaluation, Development economics and Agricultural Value Chain Development. He has undertaken several consultancies for a number of institutions including West Africa Monetary Institute (WAMI) in Accra Ghana, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Abuja, USAID, African Union, European Union, Government of Kenya, County Governments in Kenya, and a number of Private Companies. He is currently an active member of AGRODEP, PEP, AIEN (AGRODEP IMPACT EVALUATION NETWORK), AES, IAAE, AAAE, and AFMA among others. Dr. Lagat is married with two children.

Mr. Philip Kipsang Towett

TOWETT PHILIPH KIPSANG has an M.A in Gender and Development Studies from Kenyatta University and a Bachelor of Education, Science Degree from Moi University. He also attended Kericho High School and Kipchimchim Primary School.

He has previously worked as the Assistant Director of Gender and Social Development at the County Government of Nandi.

Before joining the County, Towett taught Kapsabet Girls’High School as a Maths & Biology Teacher. He has also on BOG, taught the same subjects at Kapkeben AIC Girls’ School and Lelmolok Secondary School –Eldoret.

While at Kapsabet Girls, Towett was the H.O.D Quality Assurance &Standards, Science Club Patron, Head of Biology Department, P.T.A Representative, Academic Committee Member, Welfare Committee Chairman and served as a class teacher for several years.

Towett serves a member at the Nandi County AIDS Control Committee, Board of Management member(BOM)at Kapkesengin Primary, Kamobo Secondary, Holy Rosary Girls’(Chepkumia).

He is also a Nandi County Affirmative Action Member representing the PLWDs, Community Scholarship Selection Board(CSSB)Member Equity Bank Wings to Fly Kapsabet Branch.

Ms. Jepchumba Chemurgor

Ms. Jepchumba Chemurgor is pursuing a PHD in Business Administration at the Catholic University.

She holds an (MBA) Business Administration (Marketing Management) and a Bachelor of Education, Arts. She also holds a Higher Diploma in Counselling Psychology from the Kenya College of Professional Counsellors.

She attended Samoei Secondary School and Kosoiywo Primary.

Chemurgor has lectured Catholic University as an Assistant Lecturer where she taught Principles of Marketing and Fundamentals of marketing.

She has also worked as an Administrator at Acacia School where he was involved in recruitment, employment, planning, management, budgeting and project implementation.

At Brand Me Limited, Chemurgor did personal and cooperate branding, capacity building and organizational strategy.

During her tenure at I-Zonne System in Eldoret, she worked as a Business Research Assistant where she carried out data collection for organizational use, developed business proposals and strategic plans for CBOS, NGOS, County Governments business etc.

She also developed business implementation plans and coached on business opportunities and branding.

At St. Catherine, Kesses, she taught English Literature.

Mr. Nelson Ligaga

Youthful NELSON LIGAGA is currently pursuing a Masters in Education History at Moi University.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in from Moi University.

Ligaga attained a Teachers’ Training Certificate from Kaimosi Teachers Training College, Computer Certification from Royal Computer College and Sales and Marketing from Jojo Agencies K. LTD.

He also attended Kahawa Secondary School and Musasa Primary School, located in Nandi County.

During his stay at Celtel Kenya LTD, now Airtel Kenya, Ligaga worked as a Sales Agent.

He has also worked with Pioneer Assurance Company, Kisumu as a Sales Executive.

He previously taught Sifa Hills Academy, Eldoret and Musasa IPA Secondary School, Lusengeli Secondary School and Rev. Kitonyi Memorial Secondary, Machakos. At Musasa, he was the acting Head Teacher, and while in Machakos, he was the HOD, Languages.

During the laying down of pipes for the Nandi County (Koibarak) water project, Ligaga worked as a supervisor.

Ligaga has a passion for soccer and handball and this is evident given that he was the soccer girls’ team and handball boys’ team coach at Lusengeli secondary school.

Additionally, he has previously as a reporter at the Kaimosi Union of Journalists (KUJ).

Mr. Kennedy Cheruiyot Tanui

KENNEDY CHERUIYOT TANUI holds a Masters in Education (Education Communication & Technology) from Kisii University.

Tanui holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Nairobi. He attended Kaptel Boys High and Kapsisiywa Primary school.

He has worked as a lecturer at Kaiboi Technical Training Institute in the Department of Business Communication. He was also HOD Games at the Institute.

Tanui was appointed a Track Referee and Technical Committee Member at IAAF World Under 18 Championships in Nairobi.

In his line of profession, Tanui was appointed as the Head Coach for Team Kenya to IAAF World Marathon Championships 2016, in Cardiff City, UK. Kenya won in this competition.

Tanui was also appointed by the IAAF as the High Perfomance Training Centre Administrator in 2014 and worked as a Secretary General Athletics Kenya Central Rift Region, Sec. Gen Nandi County, and Chairman Mosop Sub County.

He was the Team Manager and Head Coach to World Indoor Championships in Poland in 2014. Additionally, Tanui was appointed the coach for Team Kenya to IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona in August 2012 where Kenya emerged second to the USA.

He was appointed by the Federation of International De Volleyball FIVB as an International Referee in 2011, International Technical Official from Africa by IAAF, and National Referee for 2011 FIVB Africa Cup of Club Senior Women Champions in Nairobi.

Tanui was awarded a diploma in recognition and appreciation for his contribution to the success of the 17th IAAF/CAA African Senior Athletics Championships where he served as a Call Room Referee.

He played for Chemilil Sugar Company Volleyball Team in the National Leagues from 1996 to 2003.

Tanui also participated in the Eastern Africa Inter-Universities Decathlons where he was position two in East Africa, 400 M and 110 M hurdles where he was the champion.

Tanui is married and blessed with Children.

Mr. Elly Kurgat

Elly is an Agribusiness Management graduate who has demonstrated experience developing intervention strategies that address youth radicalization in high risk environments. He has practical experience designing, sourcing funds and implementing ideas geared towards addressing youth unemployment. He is credited with the generation and development of the Youth Agribusiness Incubation centers that trains, mentors and support Youth Led Initiatives in the Agribusiness Sector. He has been extensively involved in community youth mentorship programmes and initiatives and has widely consulted with international donor agencies on multi-cultural projects and supported their implementations, simultaneously. Recently, he consulted as a Youth Sector Specialist in the development of the Kenya Investment Mechanism; a funded programme that aims at boosting investments and business development by the youth by $1M in five years. He is currently working with Agricultural Development Corporation. Elly is married with one child and hails from Tinderet Sub-County.

Mr. Solomon Kipkosgei Mang’ira

SOLOMON KIPKOSGEI MANG’IRA is currently pursuing a PhD (Environmental Education) at Kenyatta University.

Mang’ira has a Masters of Philosophy in Environmental Law from University, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree LLB where he specialized in Civil, Criminal, and Conveyancing at Marthrad University India.

He also holds a Bachelor of Social Legislation from Maratwatha University India having specialized in Legal Writing History of Laws, Jurisprudence of Law Sociology of Law.

He has Post Graduate Diploma in Education Moi University and a Senior Secondary Certificate Examination part-2 Punjab School Education Board India.

Mang’ira sat for his KCSE at Lumakanda Boys High School.

In his lifetime, Mang’ira has worked as a Senior Administrative Assistant and Internal Part-time lecturer at Moi University.

At the same time, Mang’ira participated in the Moi University Annual International Conference Committee as a member in charge of publicity.

He has also worked as an Outreach officer at Moi University and as an Editorial board member- Kenya African Students Association India and Sri-Lanka.

He was also appointed as a lecturer at Mount Kenya University’s School of Business and Assistant Lecturer at Eldoret Polytechnic.

At the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK). Mang’ira worked as a Registration Officer in charge of Aldai Constituency where he was in charge recruiting, training, supervising, publicity, and data collating.

He also worked as a Presiding officer and Assistant Registration Officer for ECK.

Mang’ira is a Member of the Vice Chancellors Forum dealing with Community Environment.

He is also a member of the Church Commission of Kenya and Anglican Church Synod Diocese of Eldoret.

Mr. Mohammed A. Feisal

Mohammed A. Feisal is a strong believer in team spirit and cohesion with excellent attention to detail and good judgement.

Feisal is an MBA (Strategic Management) finalist at Catholic University and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance and Banking) degree from Moi Universirty.

He attended Terige High School for his Secondary Education and Baraka for his Primary Education.

Mr. Felix Kipchumba Sambu


He is currently pursuing a PhD in Supply Chain Management at JKUAT.

He holds a Master of Business Management Degree (Purchasing and Supplies Option) from Moi University, and Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Management Option) from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.

At the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT), Sambu attained an International Computer Driving License (ICDL).

Sambu was also educated at Uasin Gishu High School and Testimony Primary School-Eldoret for his KCSE and KCPE respectively.

In the academia, Sambu has published an MBM Thesis (Entrepreneurial Characteristics and Their Impact on Performance of Learning Institutions in the North Rift Region, Kenya), Moi University.

He has also published a journal on Entrepreneurial Characteristics and Perfomance of Learning Institutions, Effects of Green Packaging on Business Performance in the Manufacturing in Nairobi County, Kenya.

He has worked at JKUAT -Eldoret CBD Campus and University of Eldoret- Main Campus and Town Campus as a lecturer.

As a lecturer, Sambu taught Business Courses, developed teaching and learning materials, setting, invigilating and marking CATs, assignments and University examinations.

Sambu has also worked as a General Manager K.A.G.E Ltd.

He is a Member Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
